The days of Navratri are considered very holy and auspicious. Do not consume meat, alcohol, garlic, onion etc. during this time even by mistake. Doing so can make the goddess angry. During this time, one should not argue or fight. Doing so has a negative impact on life. During Navratri, one should not use abusive language or bring bad thoughts in the mind, otherwise it is considered a sin. During this time, respect the elders and do not disrespect them even by mistake.
During Navratri, the poor who come to your house should not return empty handed, instead you should definitely donate something to them. Apart from this, if you light the Akhand Jyot, then do not leave the house empty. Also, do the Aarti of Maa Durga twice.
