Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: The festival of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated on 16 September 2024. According to the Islamic calendar, this festival is celebrated every year on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal. This festival is also similar to Eid for Muslims. Therefore, this festival is also called the Eid of Eids.
Relation of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi with Prophet Muhammad
This festival of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is associated with Prophet Muhammad, the guide of Islam and the messenger of Allah. According to Islamic belief, Prophet Muhammad was born on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Muhammad’s day of birth is called ‘Milad’. This is an Arabic word.
This festival is celebrated with great pomp among the Muslim community and is called Eid among Eids. People have different beliefs about this day. Some people believe that not only was Prophet Muhammad born on this day, but this is also the date of his death. Therefore, it is also called Barah-Wafat i.e. the day of his death.
On the other hand, some people also believe that this day is celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. On this day, people spend most of their time in the worship of Allah. On this day, mosques are decorated, people visit dargahs, recite the Quran. Along with this, the kindness, compassion and teachings taught by the Prophet are remembered.
Who was the Prophet Muhammad
According to the followers of Islam, Allah sent his messengers from time to time to relieve the earth from sufferings, who are called Nabi or Prophet. Hazrat Mohammad is considered to be the last messenger of Allah. The last prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad, was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on the 12th of the third month in the year 570 according to the Islamic calendar.
People believe that Prophet Muhammad faced many difficulties to explain Islam to people, also suffered the atrocities of enemies, but never stopped spreading the messages of Allah to the people. Therefore, the day of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is dedicated to Prophet Muhammad. Along with India, Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated in many countries including Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia and Germany.
