(Deepraj Singh) Barabanki/Deva, Amrit Vichar: Khagal Dev Nag Temple located in Kusumbha village of Deva development block of Barabanki will become a center of attraction for devotees on Nag Panchami like every year. An ancient belief associated with this temple makes it a special place of faith, which is still in the hearts of people.
According to the legend, many years ago a monk laid a unique condition in the village that he would only drink milk of the cow that is ‘Kalor’, that is, who has never given birth to the calf. The villagers found such a cow, but when a person tried to see the cow, the monk took the form of a snake. He announced that his power will be influenced by this place to twelve and a half villages. Also, whoever will be a victim of snakebite and worships them with true heart, he will get life.
Since then this temple has become a symbol of faith and miracle on Nag Panchami. Every year on this occasion, women of twelve and a half villages fulfill their wishes by offering milk and rice in the temple.
