First fasting story of Ganesh Chaturthi
According to legend, once Goddess Parvati prayed to Lord Shiva to be blessed with a child. Lord Shiva assured Goddess Parvati to fulfill her wishes and with his blessings Lord Ganesha was born. Ganesha’s birth was a wonderful and miraculous thing. One day Goddess Parvati was taking a bath, and she created a child to clean her body. She created this child without making any dirt.
When Ganesha grew up, once Lord Shiva came to him. Ganesha did not recognize Lord Shiva and stopped him at the door. Due to this, a fight broke out between Shiva and Ganesha and Ganesha was beheaded by Lord Shiva.
Later, on the prayers of Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva attached an elephant’s head to Ganesha’s body and revived him. The day Ganesha was reborn was the Chaturthi Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. For this reason Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on this day.
