According to the Hindu calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. According to mythological beliefs and stories, Lord Ganesha was born on this date.
When is Ganesh Chaturthi 2024
This year Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 7th September. On this day, the idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in temples, houses and pandals. People do special worship of Ganesha and celebrate Ganesh Utsav for 10 days with great pomp. On the 10th day, the idol of the Lord is immersed and he is sent off to Kaulash. This year Ganesh Visarjan is on 17th September.
How to prepare for Ganesh Utsav?
People start preparing for Ganesh Utsav many days in advance. So that no obstacle arises at the time of Bappa’s arrival. Let us tell you how to prepare for Ganesh Utsav.
-Before installing Bappa or before doing puja, clean the entire house.
-The north-east direction (Ishaan angle) of the house is the best direction for installing the idol. Before decorating the idol’s platform, purify it by sprinkling Gangajal.
-Keep the idol of Ganeshji at a high place.
-Use a clean yellow cloth to spread on the stool.
Puja Materials
Many types of materials are required during Ganesh Puja. Without which the puja is not complete. Therefore, you should bring all the materials in advance. So that the puja is completed well. It includes Chowki, yellow and red cloth, idol, betel nut, fruits, incense sticks, laddu, modak, durva, betel leaves, coconut, seasonal matchsticks, vermilion, flowers, eyes, urn, garland, camphor, turmeric etc.
