At the beginning of any auspicious work, Shri Ganesha is called, because Ganapati is said to be obstacle, destroyer of sorrows and giving happiness. Siddhivinayak is called Siddhidata. Every auspicious work begins with their worship or establishment.
We remember them before starting any work. Is it enough to remember or praise them only? Come, obstacle, take inspiration from that auspicious image. Come, adopt their qualities, their characteristics and powers in your life! Do not just praise them, learn something from them and imbibe it.
There is a legend that Shankarji went to a remote mountain to do penance. During that time, Goddess Parvati built a child from the layers of her body and burnt her life. When the child grew up a little, Parvati, one day, stood outside the house and went inside to take a bath.
He ordered the child not to come inside the house. Shankarji returned the same day. The child performed his duty and did not let Shankarji enter. Shankarji came in anger and cut off the child’s head. On coming out of Parvatiji, Shankarji accepted his mistake and placed the elephant’s head around the child’s neck and named the child Ganesh.
You can say that even after years of penance, Lord Shankar could not control his anger and obeyed his mother and cut off the head of the child. In fact, the meaning of this story is deep. Its spiritual meaning is that when the formless Lord Shiva incarnates this old corrupt Kaliyugi world to convert the world to a new pure golden world, due to excessive ignorance and body-egoism, human souls are unable to recognize God.
Lord Shiva cuts our body-consciousness or head-e-ego head, which destroys all other disorders. Since body consciousness is the origin of all mental disorders, Lord Shiva cuts it and installs the head of knowledge in its place and we also give humans an opportunity to become a deity with qualities, powers and qualities like Shri Ganesha.
In fact, every part of the form of Ganesha gives us knowledge of living and creating proper life. For example, Ganesha’s head is large, which symbolizes his great intelligence or vast knowledge. Secondly, his eyes are very small, which reflect his foresight. You must have seen that when we try to see something far away, our eyes become small.
Ganesha’s mouth is shown small. The one who is intelligent speaks less but the truth. Ganesh ji’s ears are large, who tell us that we should hear more and speak less. Their ears are like a sieve and the specialty of the sieve is that it keeps good things with it and throws the garbage. This means that we should accept good things and give up useless things.
People say listen to one ear and take it out of the other, but it does not happen. What we have heard will definitely go inside us. Because we have brain between the two ears, which is affected by the hearing. That is why Ganesh ji says that we should not listen to useless things. Today we are listening to many things on internet media, WhatsApp group etc., if we accept their positive things and leave the negative things, then it will be respected for Ganesha.
Ganesha is called Ekadanta. They have only one tooth, the other is broken. To call them Ekadanta means that the duality should be finished with life and the establishment of Advaita. Unity, concentration and integrity came in life. Dvaita causes the feelings of caste-discrimination, religious discrimination, varna-discrimination, language-discrimination, etc., and discord, violence and suffering occur in the society.
The root cause of duality is our ego, which reaches its peak in Kali Yuga. If we assimilate the form of Ganesha that we are all children of God and are the same, then all discrimination, malice, discord can end and the atmosphere of world brotherhood, sisterChara, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, global peace, harmony and religious harmony can be established.
Riddhi and Siddhi are depicted on both sides of Ganesha. That is, if a person adopts the spiritual knowledge and Raja Yoga meditation of God like Shri Ganesha in his life, then prosperity and success will continue in his life like Riddhi-Siddhi. For this, he will not need to work hard, but he will only have to keep himself connected to God. Only then his life journey will be smooth, pleasant, safe and full of well -being like Ganesha.
There is another story of Ganesha. Once, there was a competition between Ganesh and his brother Karthikeya to revolve around the earth. Ganesh was only revolting around his parents Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. He participated in the competition, but was not in the race to win. As a result, they needed to run after success, nor to work hard or struggle.
He was happy and busy in the internal journey of his parents and the service of the world. As a result, God declared him the winner of not only traveling and experience of the entire earth, but also recognized him as the first revered deity throughout the world. Therefore, Shri Ganesh Chaturthi gives us the message that by connecting the mind to God, we will conquer the mind and senses and become the winner.
