Prahlad’s father Hiranyakashipu was the enemy of Lord Vishnu. He was extremely opposed to his son’s devotion to Lord Vishnu. When Prahlada rejected Hiranyakashipu’s objection, Hiranyakashipu ordered his sister demonic Holika to kill Prahlad. Holika had a divine fold gifted by Lord Brahma to be safe from fire.
Holika planned to burn Prahlad in a huge fire, Holika sat with Prahlada in the fire, but by the immense grace of Lord Vishnu, in place of Holika, Divya Odhani saved Prahlad safe from fire.
According to folklore, Prahlada started chanting the name of Lord Vishnu. When Lord Vishnu saw his beloved devotee in the road, he ordered a gust of air to fly the coverage from the top of Holika on his devotee Prahlada. That is why demonic Holika was consumed in a huge fire and Prahlada was not damaged due to the grace of Lord Vishnu and the elusive fold.
