Ganesh Utsav lasts for a full ten days and its last day is considered to be Anant Chaturdashi. According to the Panchang, Ganesh Utsav begins on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and this festival ends on the Chaturdashi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Method of immersion of idol-
According to religious rules, it is considered auspicious to immerse Ganapati on the holy day of Anant Chaturdashi. In such a situation, to do the immersion, first prepare a wooden seat, then make a Swastika on it and pour Gangajal. Then spread a yellow cloth and install the idol of Bappa on it by dressing it in new clothes and applying a tilak of kumkum.
Now put rice grains on the seat and offer flowers, fruits and sweets to the Lord. After this, before immersing the idol of Bappa, do Puja Aarti with his family. After that, do the ritual immersion of the idol of Ganpati and also ask forgiveness from Bappa for your mistakes and pray for his return next year. It is believed that immersion in this manner brings virtue.
