Hanumanji also became angry
Hanumanji asked Shani to return but Shani kept challenging him again and again for war. Hanumanji also became angry and got ready for war. A war started between the two. Hanumanji attacked Shanidev in such a way that he could not escape and got injured. After this Shani apologized. Hanumanji forgave and gave oil to apply on the wounds. As soon as the oil was applied, Shani’s wounds healed and the pain went away. Shani told Hanumanji that now all the devotees who worship you will not have to face the blame of Shani. Since then the tradition of worshiping Hanumanji along with Shani started.
According to another story, Hanuman ji had freed Shani from the captivity of Ravana, hence Shani Dev was feeling pain due to the wounds received in Shani’s captivity.
