Varanasi, Amrit thoughts: Kashi once again became a wonderful example of devotion, reverence and tradition in the holy month of Sawan. On Monday, on the third Monday of Sawan, hundreds of devotees traders associated with Vishwanath Gali Merchant Association performed Jalabhishek Baba Vishwanath with water brought from 84 Ganges Ghats of Kashi. Former Minister of State and MLA of City Southern Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari was present as the chief guest at this historic event. The program was chaired by Mahant Shankar Puri Ji Maharaj of Shri Annapurna Math Temple, Kashi.
11 Brahmins worshiped water: The program started at Chittaranjan Park at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where the water collected from 84 ghats was filled in urns and was worshiped by 11 Vedpathi Brahmins. The tradition of dedicating the water in a mantra and Vedic manner was performed in a scriptural manner. After water worship, a grand procession was taken out, in which hundreds of traders took the urns in the traditional costumes, and reached Vishwanath Dham with devotion. This procession, which came out with Har-Har Mahadev’s Jayaghosh and Damru-Shakhdhwani, made the entire route Shivamay.
Kashi again echoed “Har-Har Mahadev”: Dr. Pawan Shukla, Vice President of Vishwanath Gali Traders Association, said that this program is not only a symbol of religious faith, but is also an attempt by traders to save the cultural heritage of Kashi. He informed that this tradition will continue every year on Monday. The presence of thousands of devotees during Jalabhishek in the court of Baba Vishwanath filled the entire Dham with the energy of devotion. The devotees were seen paying homage to Baba with slogans of “Har-Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bomb”.
