Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: Shri Krishna, who is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, has a special significance in Hinduism. Shri Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhado month. On this day Lord Krishna was born on earth. On this day, the child form of the Lord i.e. Laddu Gopal is worshipped and fasting is done with rituals. According to the Vedic calendar, this year Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami Tithi will start on 26 August at 3:39 am and end on 27 August at 2:19 am. This time Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26 August, Monday. The auspicious time for Puja on 26 August will be from 12:01 am to 12:45 am. This auspicious time is called Nishita Muhurta.
How to celebrate Janmashtami
On this day, the devotees of Shri Krishna are completely immersed in Krishna Bhakti and keep fast from morning to celebrate the birthday of the Lord. At night, Shri Krishna is worshipped with rituals. Lord is bathed with turmeric, curd, ghee, honey, panchamitra, oil, Gangajal etc. and sandalwood is applied. He is adorned by dressing him in new clothes and he is rocked in a cradle with great joy. After this, grand decorations are done in the temples to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna. Bhajans and kirtans are performed and Shrimad Bhagwat is also recited.
Janmashtami will be celebrated in auspicious yoga
Like every year, this time too Janmashtami is going to be very special, because this year Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga is being formed on Janmashtami. Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga will start from 3:55 in the afternoon and will remain till 5:57 am on 27 August. This yoga is considered very auspicious for attaining happiness, wealth and prosperity.
Importance of Krishna Janmashtami worship
According to religious beliefs, this day is very auspicious. By worshipping Lord Krishna on this day, a person gets happiness, prosperity and wealth and also gets freedom from various problems in life. Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, observing fast on this day gives the same results as observing Ekadashi fast.
