When will the Jitiya fast be broken?
According to astrologer Pandit Dharmendra Jha, she will break her fast on Thursday, 26 September. Its formal breaking of the fast will be done from 04:35 am to 05:23 am. Jitiya fast is mainly observed in Bihar, Jharkhand and some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Method of observing Jitiya fast
Jitiya Vrat can be observed any time after sunrise on 26th September. On Thursday morning, after taking bath, worship Lord Surya. Offer Arghya to Sun God. After this, the fast can be observed by worshipping all the deities along with Lord Jimutvahan. After observing the fast, donations are also given as per one’s capacity.

Do keep this in mind- In this fast, women keep a waterless fast for the whole day and night. Women have to keep Jitiya fast every year. This fast can never be left in between. According to beliefs, women wear a red thread around their neck during the end of Jitiya fast. Fasting women can also wear a locket. Mustard oil and skin are offered during the worship of Jivitputrika fast. After the end of the fast, this oil is applied on the head of children as a blessing.
