Prayagraj, Amrit Vichar: Kartik Purnima, i.e. a special festival falling in the month of Kartik. Bathing in Yamuna on Kartik Purnima is considered to have special significance. On Friday, on the occasion of Purnima, a huge crowd of devotees gathered at Baluaghat Baradari to take bath. A fair is organized once in the month of Kartik in Baluaghat. On Kartik Purnima, devotees take bath in the Yamuna river with great faith and after worshiping as per rituals, they also make donations.
In the month of Kartik, a special fair is organized at Baluaghat for a month. Here. People come from far away places and set up shops for business. On Friday, on Kartik Purnima falling in Kartik month, a huge crowd of devotees gathered at Baluaghat to take bath in Yamuna river. After bathing, the women performed puja as per the rituals by donating lamps at the ghat and earned charity as per their capacity. In view of Kartik Purnima, strict security arrangements were made at Baluaghat. Better arrangements were made for changing clothes of women.
At the same time, sanitation workers were appointed by the Municipal Corporation to clean flower garlands and other garbage on the ghat. Water police and warrantees were also deployed to ensure that no one bathes in deep water on the Ghatm, so that no untoward incident happens. Till afternoon, a crowd was seen at the ghat to take bath in Yamuna. Along with Baluaghat, there was a huge crowd at Sangam also. Lakhs of devotees also took a dip of faith in Sangam on Kartik Purnima.
