Women bought their favorite lehengas-sarees, matching bangles-bracelets and other adornment items as well as karwa and puja items. Mehndi was applied from palms to entire hand. Someone got her husband’s name written and someone got the moon made. Today women will wear sixteen adornments and look at the moon.
Most women and especially newlyweds buy lehengas for Karva Chauth. Businessmen Uttam Kapoor and Prabhu Jalan said that most of the newlyweds have demanded to finalize the design and give them the lehenga by tomorrow afternoon. People liked bangles and bracelets matching the sarees at bangle shops in various markets including Aminabad, Hazratganj, Chowk, Yahiyaganj, Tikaitganj, Aliganj, Alambagh, Gomtinagar. There was high demand for designer bangles.
I liked Karva Chauth very much.
Women in different areas of the city showed interest in purchasing beautifully carved Karwa. Along with this, women also bought straw. Craze for sieve was also seen in the markets. Women bought many types of sieves on which Karva Chauth was written. Also purchased Kheel, Gatte and Sawdust.
Beauty parlor packages up to Rs 8000
There was crowd in beauty parlors also. Since afternoon, women kept waiting for their turn to get facial and mehendi applied. Poonam, the operator of Henna Beauty Parlor located in Rajajipuram, said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among women about Karva Chauth. The women had made the booking. Women are getting facials, mehndi and other make-up done. We have packages ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 8 thousand.

In the markets of Aminabad, Hazratganj, Alambagh, Chowk, Bhootnath, Gomti Nagar etc., women kept getting mehendi applied till late night. There was a competition to get designer mehendi applied. Suraj, who applied mehendi in Bhootnath market, said that women had started coming two days ago. Women come from far and wide till late night. Mehndi packages range from Rs 500 to Rs 3 thousand.
