Mahakumbhnagar. Kalpavas of Mahakumbh will begin with Paush Purnima Snan on Monday in the biggest spiritual and cultural gathering of faith which is going to be held on the banks of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati. More than five lakh Kalpavasis are expected to come to the fair for chanting and penance for a month.
Mahakumbh Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand said that Shri Ganesh of Mahakumbh is going to be celebrated from Paush Purnima Snan festival. On the second day of this, on Tuesday, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti festival, there will be “Amrit Snan” of the Akharas. Preparations for both the festivals have been completed. In recognition and as per the instructions of the saints, bathing of the Akharas will be done in the traditional manner.
Official sources said that on both the festivals, flowers will be showered on the devotees taking bath at the bathing ghats by helicopter. No protocol will be implemented on both the festivals. Vehicles have been banned in the fair area. Motorboats will also not be operated on bathing festivals. On Tuesday, the first Mahakumbh Amrit Snan (royal bath) of Makar Sankranti festival Akharas will take place. Two pontoon bridges have been earmarked for access to the Akharas during the Amrit Snan festival. Triveni Bridge and Triveni II Pontoon are reserved for Akharas. Apart from this, two pontoon bridges will be reserved for emergencies.
Official sources said that apart from the splendor of the Akharas in Mahakumbh, the trinity of chanting, penance and restraint of the Kalpavasis also flows here. There has been an increase in the number of Kalpavasis who set up tent camps on the sands of Ganga and Yamuna and perform sadhana in the biting cold for a whole month from Paush Purnima. This time the administration has made arrangements for more than seven lakh Kalpavasis for the 2019 Kumbh.
Mahakumbh has been divided into 25 sectors on an area of four thousand hectares. For these devotees who basically spend Kalpvas in the fair area, tents have been arranged near the banks of Ganga so that they do not have to walk far to bathe in the Ganga every morning. Cleanliness is being given priority in the camps of Kalpavasis living in different sectors.
Different colored dustbins will be kept outside the camp of Kalpavasis. There will be separate dustbins for dry waste and separate dustbins for wet waste. The month of Magh when these Kalpavasi spend Kalpavas on the banks of Ganga, is the time of severe cold. To protect the elderly Kalp residents from the cold wave, arrangements will be made for lighting bonfires outside the camp.
