According to beliefs, Lord Shiva is seated in this temple. Evidence of Kamadhenu cow and the remaining snake is also seen in the temple. This temple always has Jalabhishek on Shivling, so it is known as Jaladhari Mahadev Temple.

It is believed that the Pandavas did penance here in Dwapar. It is said that earlier in this Shiva temple, there used to be a stream of milk for 24 hours on the Shivling. But one day some shepherds made kheer by taking milk from milk stream. Then milk was used for two to three days without purity. Since then, the milk that is naturally climbed on Mahadev has turned into water and till then the stream of water rains on Mahadev.
