Amrit Vichar, Prayagraj: Special arrangements have been made regarding traffic in Mahakumbh 2025. The traffic police has prepared a traffic plan for the major Snan festivals and normal days. Extensive preparations are being made for traffic management on all the 7 major routes coming to Prayagraj. It is estimated that maximum traffic may come from Jaunpur, Rewa-Banda and Varanasi routes, while large scale footfall is also expected from Kanpur and Mirzapur routes. In such a situation, the traffic has been strengthened so that the people coming can take holy bath without any inconvenience. It is noteworthy that this time more than 40 crore people are expected to come to Mahakumbh and the traffic police is ready to welcome everyone.
Maximum traffic potential from Jaunpur route
According to the traffic plan prepared by the traffic police, there are 7 major routes to reach the Maha Kumbh Mela and Commissionerate area from different directions. These include Jaunpur Marg, Varanasi Marg, Mirzapur Marg, Rewa/Banda Marg, Kanpur Marg, Lucknow Marg and Pratapgarh Marg. According to the estimated traffic, maximum 21 percent traffic is likely to come from Jaunpur route, while 18 percent people are expected to come from Rewan/Banda route. Similarly, 16 percent people can come from Varanasi route, 14 percent from Kanpur route and 12 percent from Mirzapur route. At the same time, 10 percent people are likely to come from Lucknow route and 9 percent from Pratapgarh route.
Determination of single routes for pedestrians in the fair area
Separate traffic plans have been prepared for all the major 7 routes for normal days. Separate parking spaces have been earmarked for big and small vehicles. On normal days, there will be no restriction of any kind on foot traffic in the city area, but single direction routes will be used in the fair area. Also, if the crowd is excessive on normal days, then the decision of diversion will be taken by SSP Kumbh Mela as per the situation of the spot.
