Prayagraj. Naked Naga Sannyasis, with huge matted hair covered with ash on their bodies, holding tongs, kamandal and pipe in their hands, indulging in smoke and enjoying a happy life. The biggest public attraction of Maha Kumbh is that if there are 13 Akharas of Sanatan Dharma, then the makeup of these Akharas are their Naga Sannyasis.
In normal times, these Naga Sanyasis, who live in caves and caves away from human settlements, regularly build a town ship during the Maha Kumbh. With ashes on their bodies and weapons in their hands, these Naga ascetics, engrossed in their own bliss, have nothing to do with the glitter and glamor of the world, nor have anything to do with the life of grandeur of the religious leaders.
Secretary of Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani, Shri Mahant Yamuna Puri told that Naga’s Bhabhut or Bhasma is prepared after a long process. Nagas either purify the ashes of a dead body and rub them on the body or they rub the ashes of the havan performed by them on the body. Are. In the Havan Kund, ashes are prepared by burning sacred mango, peepal, pakad, rasala, belpatra, banana and cow dung. The ash of this burnt material is filtered through a cloth and laddu is made from it in raw milk. It is heated several times in fire and then quenched in raw milk. Bhasmi prepared in this way is spread on the body. This ash is the clothing of Naga Sadhus.
Shri Mahant Yamuna Puri told that to become a Naga Sadhu a person has to go through many difficult tests. All these examinations also involve giving up one’s clothes. Naga Sadhus remain engrossed in worshiping God in caves, caves and their monasteries. No matter how cold it is, Naga Sadhus never wear clothes. These sadhus do yoga and penance for a long time due to which natural things do not affect their body. Along with this, they keep the ghost wrapped around their body. He does Surya Bhedi Pranayam and Tapas Yoga to keep the body warm. Through yoga they control their senses and body due to which they neither feel too cold nor too hot. He considers external things as ostentation.
He told that Naga Sadhus remain naked and have Bhabhut smeared all over their body, this is their clothing. Their big locks of hair are also the center of attraction. They live a happy life, holding tongs, kamandal and chillum in their hands. They live happily by applying three stripes tilak on their forehead. The ghost itself is their clothing. This spirit protects them from many calamities. There are many sub-castes of Naga ascetics who live in their own way without clothes. Among them, Digambara, Sridigambara, Khooni Naga, Barfani Naga, Khichadia Naga are prominent. In this, the one who wears a loincloth is called a Digambara whereas Shri Digambar does not wear a single loincloth. The most dangerous are the bloody Nagas.
The secretary of Mahanirvani Akhara told that the word Naga first comes from Lord Shiva. The pure word of Naga is Digambara. Digambara is a name of Lord Shiva. The direction which has clothes is a separate state from the body. The one who has realized that he has some existence apart from the body, he is a Digambara.
He told that what the body knows is that the body is needed only to perform tasks and actions in this world and if something is left incomplete in these four efforts, then the body is needed to fulfill it. We are the one whom weapons cannot cut and fire cannot consume, wind cannot dry and water cannot wet. He told that the one who is oriented towards the soul and who knows that soul through the blessings of Guru and initiation from Guru tradition and knows the Swastika form of that soul, he is actually a Digambara. For him, having or not having clothes does not matter.
