No fly zone: major decision of Jammu and Kashmir government, strictly forbidden on flight drone on the entire route of Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday declared the journey routes as ‘no flying zone’ (flight prohibited area), increasing the security measures for the annual Amarnath Yatra. For the Amarnath Yatra, pilgrims use two routes – traditional Pahalgam route and Baltal route. On the orders of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the announcement issued by the Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir said that it is prohibited to fly any type of aviation in the region from July 1 to August 10.

However, this ban will not apply to patients with aircraft for treatment, disaster management and monitoring flights by security forces. The detailed standard operating process for such exceptions will be released later. It has been said in the order that various security arrangements are being made for the smooth and peaceful operation of the yatra in view of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra starting from July 3. It said that the Union Home Ministry has also advised that the entire route of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra should be declared ‘No Flying Zone’ from July 1 to August 10.

“Therefore, all the routes of the journey are declared ‘no flying zone’,” the order said, “Therefore, with the objective of ensuring strong security during the 2025, which includes both Pahalgam and Baltal routes.” Security measures have been increased after the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. 26 people died in this attack. The Amarnath Yatra involves thousands of pilgrims from across the country every year.
