This year Anant Chaturdashi is on 17 September. It is also known as Anant Chaudas. Pandit Saurabh Kumar Mishra of Jagannath Temple said that Chaturdashi Tithi will start from 3:10 pm on 16 September, which will last till 12:44 pm on 17 September. On this day, Anant forms of Lord Vishnu are worshiped. On this day, Anant Sutra yellow thread is tied, which has fourteen knots. This fast is observed with the wish of wealth, happiness, prosperity and children etc. Let us know the worship method of Anant Chaturdashi:
Method of worship:
On this day, wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
After taking bath, light a lamp in the temple at home.
Anoint the gods and goddesses with Ganga water.
If possible, keep a fast on this day.
In Ganesh Puja, the first symbol of Ganesh Ji is made, which is Swastika. Ganesh Ji is the first worshipped deity, hence there is a tradition of making Swastika at the beginning of the worship.
Offer flowers to Lord Ganesha.
Also offer Durva grass to Lord Ganesha. According to religious beliefs, offering Durva grass pleases Lord Ganesha.
Apply vermillion to Lord Ganesha.
Meditate on Lord Ganesha.
Offer flowers and basil leaves to Lord Vishnu.
Also offer bhog to Ganesha and Lord Vishnu. You can also offer modaks or laddus to Ganesha. Take special care that only satvik things are offered to God. Do include Tulsi in the bhog of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Vishnu does not accept bhog without Tulsi.
On this holy day, worship Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu.
Meditate on God as much as possible on this day.
