Ekadashi 2024 October Every year, Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of both the pakshas. Ekadashi fast is considered very important for the worship of Shri Hari Vishnu. In the scriptures, Ekadashi fast has been called Vrat Raj. There are a total of 24 Ekadashi fasts in a year, but in some years, due to reading Purushottam month, the Ekadashi fast increases by two. Due to which the number of Ekadashi of the year increases by two and becomes 26. This year Ekadashi fast is being observed on 13 October. People who fast on this day with devotion. Happiness and peace prevail in their house. Shri Hari Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi are very happy with this fast. This fast should be observed on Ekadashi date with complete rituals. Worship and chanting should be done and this fast should be broken after sunrise the next day. Because breaking the fast on Ekadashi tithi has special significance. That is why Parana should be done on Dwadashi Tithi only. The fourth hour of Dwadashi Tithi is considered to be Harivasar. Therefore breaking the fast in the fourth hour is considered very auspicious.
Water should not be given to Mother Tulsi on the day of Papankusha Ekadashi fast which falls on Ashwin Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. Because it is believed that on this day Mother Tulsi herself observes Ekadashi fast. Therefore, giving water will create hindrance in their fast. For this reason, water should not be given to Mother Tulsi but Tulsi Dal should definitely be offered to Lord Padmanabha. This results in achieving the desired results.
Story of Papankusha Ekadashi fast:-
According to the story of Papankusha Ekadashi fast, in ancient times, a cruel fowler named Krodh lived on Vindhya Mountain. His entire life he was involved in sinful activities like looting, bad company, violence, rioting and drinking. When the last moment of his life came, the messengers of Yamraj arrived to take him away from the cruel fowler. Then the messengers of Yamdoot told the fowler that the time of your life has ended and soon we will come to take you. Hearing this, the fowler became very scared and reached the ashram of sage Angira. Falling at the feet of Rishi Angira, he started pleading and said, O sage, I have committed many sins in my life. Please someone tell me such method and method for fasting and worship. So that all the sins of my life are eliminated or I get the blessings of Lord Vishnu i.e. I attain salvation. Then sage Angira asked him to fast on the Ekadashi date of Ashwin Shukla Paksha with complete rituals. This fast was observed by Fowler with complete rituals. As a result of which all his sinful activities ended and he received the supreme blessings of Shri Hari Vishnu.
