Paush Purnima 2025: Great faith in weather, lakhs of devotees take a dip on Paush Purnima

Lucknow. On Monday, on the holy occasion of Paush Purnima, there was a steady stream of people taking bath in other holy rivers and lakes including Ganga, Yamuna and Gomti in the entire Uttar Pradesh, including Tirtharaj Prayagraj and Baba Vishwanath’s city Varanasi. During this period, elaborate security arrangements were made.

According to an estimate, by noon, more than 1.5 crore devotees had taken a dip of faith in the holy rivers. Maha Kumbh started from today itself in Sangam city Prayagraj where despite drizzling rain and severe cold, more than 60 lakh devotees had taken bath by 9.30 in the morning. On the occasion of Paush Purnima, a crowd of devotees has gathered at the Ganga ghats of Varanasi. People are doing charity along with bathing in Ganga. In view of the arrival of huge crowd of devotees in Varanasi on the occasion of Maha Kumbh, the touch darshan of Baba Vishwanath has been banned.

On the occasion of Paush Purnima, devotees are continuing to take a holy bath in the Ganga despite the severe cold at Ganga Dham Tigri Dham in Amroha. In view of the crowd, special arrangements have been made by the administration. Since morning, there has been a rush of bathers at other ghats including Bithoor in Kanpur, while in Lucknow, a large number of devotees took a holy dip on the Gomati bank and donated money. Information about thousands of people taking bath has also been received from various districts like Bareilly, Mathura, Agra, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Kannauj etc.
