It is very important to blow Sattu on the Pretshila altar to get freedom from the ghost world. To blow Sattu, one has to offer Pind at Brahmacharan before doing the parikrama. Thereafter, one has to blow Sattu while doing parikrama of Pretshila three times. Panda Bhola Pandey of Pretshila said that it is believed that by blowing Sattu on the Pretshila rock, the ancestors come out of the ghost world and go to Brahmalok. He told that on Thursday there was a good crowd of Pinddaan people in Gaya as compared to Wednesday. Shiva Pandey Dhami said that after Pinddaan in the Brahmakund below, there is a custom of blowing Sattu on the Pretshila rock situated on the hill above. Apart from Pitru Paksha, pilgrims come here throughout the year.

‘Circumambulate Pretshila three times, blow sattu, remove the ghost obstacle, take the ancestors out of the ghost world, take blessings from the ghost priest’. After the ghost obstacle is removed, visit Masan Maa Kali’, this voice kept echoing on the Pretshila hill throughout the day on Thursday. The priest sitting in the shed near the Pretshila rock 676 steps up kept giving these orders continuously through the mike and kept blowing the Pinddaani Sattu.

Pinddaanis kept blowing during the circumambulation thrice: Apart from those performing the tripakshik Gayashraddha on Thursday, there was a good crowd of Pinddaanis for one, three and seven days at Pretshila. Pinddaanis were seen from the Brahmakund below to the hill above. The view near the rock on the hill was amazing. The Pinddaanis, who came to Gayadham with the wish of salvation for their ancestors from the ghost world, kept blowing Sattu while doing the circumambulation of Pretshila (rock). Most of the pilgrims did the circumambulation thrice and kept blowing Sattu. After going around thrice, they would give money to the Panda ji. The Panda ji would ask the name. After this, the Panda ji would pat the back of the Pinddaani and say – the ghost obstruction of the ancestors is removed. Such a view was visible on the hill throughout the day.
