Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2024 Date: Pitru Paksha will be from 18 September to 2 October 2024. If you do not know the death date of your ancestors or you have forgotten the death date of your ancestors, then you can perform Shradh on Amavasya date. That is, the Shradh of these ancestors can be done on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya coming in Pitru Paksha. If someone is not able to perform Shradh on all the dates, then he can perform Shradh only on Amavasya date. Kutup, Rauhin etc. auspicious muhurats are considered auspicious to perform Shradh. Tarpan is done at the end of Shradh.
Pitru Visarjan Amavasya- Sarva Pitru Amavasya is also known as Pitru Visarjan Amavasya. On this day, the Shradh of all the ancestors of the family can be performed. According to the beliefs of Hinduism, performing Shradh on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya brings welfare to the ancestors and they go straight to Vaikunth. According to religious texts, performing Shradh on Amavasya Tithi brings freedom from Pitru Dosha. It is said that the ancestors go back to their world on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya.
Sarva Pitru Amavasya Shradh Shubh Muhurat- On the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya, the Kutup Muhurta for Shradh, Tarpan and Pinddaan will be from 11:46 am to 12:33 pm. The Rohin Muhurta will be from 12:33 pm to 01:20 pm. The Muhurta of the afternoon will be from 01:20 pm to 03:42 pm.
What should be done on Amavasya day- It is considered auspicious to feed dogs, cows, crows and ants on this day. A lamp should be lit in the south direction of your house in the evening. Water should be offered to the Peepal tree on this day.
