Pitru Paksha 2024: In Sanatan Dharma, the time of Pitru Paksha is considered very important for the peace of soul and salvation of ancestors. It is a religious belief that in this month, ancestors get salvation by performing Shradh, Tarpan and Pinddaan. It is said that every year in Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to Earth from Pitru Lok and are happy to receive Shradh. According to Acharya Ashok Pandey, this year Pitru Paksha is starting from 17th September and will continue till 2nd October. According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha starts from the full moon date of Bhadrapada month. According to astrologer Vibhor Indudut, this time many coincidences are happening at the beginning of Shraddha Paksha. Usually, Shraddha starts from Bhadrapada Purnima, the next day of Anant Chaturdashi, but this time Anant Chaturdashi, Ganesh Visarjan and Purnima Shraddha are falling on the same day. On September 17, Chaturdashi Tithi will be from sunrise to 11:44 am. Therefore, Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on this day. At the same time, after 11:44 minutes, Purnima Tithi will start and Purnima Shraddha will also begin.
