Pitru immersion takes place on the new moon day of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. Pitru Visarjan Amavasya is on 2nd October. On this date, all the ancestors are immersed. Shraddha ritual
Shraddha rituals (pind daan, tarpan) should be performed only through a qualified learned Brahmin.

Shraddha puja should be started in the afternoon. Chant mantras with the help of a qualified Brahmin and after the puja, offer tarpan with water.
