Pradosh Vrat September 2024: Pradosh fast is observed on the Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha of every month. Worshiping Lord Shiva on the day of Pradosh fast has special significance. It is a religious belief that doing so brings happiness, prosperity and well-being in life. According to the Drik Panchang, Trayodashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is falling on Sunday, 15th September. Ravi Pradosh fast will be observed on this day. It is said that Ravi Pradosh fast should be observed to get the blessings of longevity and health. At the same time, all mothers and sisters should perform the Udyapan of the fast after completion of eleven or 26 Trayodashi fasts of the whole year. Method of worship of Bholenath:
Wake up early in the morning on the day of Pradosh fast.
After taking bath, meditate on Lord Shiva.
Take a pledge to fast and worship Lord Shiva.
Prepare for the evening puja.
Start worshipping Lord Shiva during Pradosh period.
Go to Shiva temple and offer water and Belpatra on Shivlinga.
After this, offer fruits, flowers, incense, lamps and offerings to Lord Shiva.
Chant Shiva’s seed mantra ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ using a Rudraksha rosary.
If possible, feed a Brahmin and give donation as per your capacity.
Method of Udyapana of the fast:
To perform the Udyapan of Pradosh Vrat, after taking bath, make a pavilion with colorful cloth. Install the idol of Shiva-Gauri in it and do the worship as per the rituals. After this, perform Havan in the fire with Kheer for the purpose of Shiva-Parvati. While performing Havan, one should offer 108 times with the mantra ‘Om Uma Sahati Shivay Namah’. Along with this, offer sacrifice to Shankarji while chanting the mantra Om Namah Shivay. After Havan, do charity and pious deeds according to your capacity. Feed the Brahmins. The fasting person should eat food while meditating on Bholenath along with taking blessings from the Brahmins. According to mythology, Pradosh Vrat removes sorrows, increases age and wealth. Also, the person gets the desired fruits.
