Rishi Panchami 2024: Every year Rishi Panchami is celebrated on the Panchami Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha, which is a special fast dedicated to the sages. On September 8, devotees across the country will celebrate Rishi Panchami, a fast to worship the Sapta Rishis. Pandit Suryamani Pandey told that the fast of Rishi Panchami is observed especially by women but, men can also do it. On this day, the Sapta Rishis – Kashyap, Atri, Bhardwaj, Vashishtha, Gautama, Jamadagni, and Vishwamitra are worshiped. These seven sages are considered to be the parts of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. They are considered to be the creators of the Vedas and scriptures. It is believed that observing this fast liberates one from all kinds of sins and brings happiness and peace in life.

According to Drik Panchang, this year the Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on 7th September at 05:37 pm and will end on 8th September, 2024 at 07:58 pm. Therefore, according to Udaya Tithi, Rishi Panchami fast will be observed on 8th September.
Method of worship of Rishi Panchami
Acharya Pappu Pandey said that on this day devotees take bath and wear clean clothes. Then they light lamps in front of the statue or picture of the Sapta Rishis and worship them. Panchamrit, flowers, sandalwood, incense sticks and various types of fruits and flowers are offered in the worship. During the worship, the aarti and mantras of the Rishis are recited and the Vrat Katha is heard. After this, devotees keep a Nirjala or fruit-eating fast and meditate on the Sapta Rishis along with God throughout the day. Making a golden statue of the Sapta Rishis and donating it to a worthy Brahmin on the day of Rishi Panchami yields infinite virtuous results.
The fast of Rishi Panchami is considered especially important. It is believed that keeping this fast brings happiness and prosperity in the family. According to astrologers, on this day devotees across the country worship the Sapta Rishis with great reverence and devotion and wish to make their lives righteous.
