Saubhagya Yoga, Magha Nakshatra Yoga is being formed on Sakat Chauth. Sakat Chauth fast is observed for the long life of the children. On this day, Sankat Haran Ganapati Ganesha is worshipped. Durva, Shami leaves, Bel leaves, jaggery and sesame laddus are offered in the puja. This fast removes troubles, sorrows and gives Riddhi-Siddhi.
This fast is observed on Krishna Chaturthi of Magh. It is also called Tilkuta Chauth. Astrologer SS Nagpal of Swastik Astrology Center tells that Chaturthi Tithi will start from 4:06 am on Friday and will end on January 18 at 5:30 am. Women observe waterless fast on Sakat Chauth. In the evening, at the time of moonrise, half of sesame, jaggery etc. is given to the moon. Sesame seeds are roasted and ground with jaggery. A mountain of Tilkut is made. At some places, Tilkut goat is also made. After worshiping him, a child of the house cuts the neck of the Tilkut goat. The story is narrated and then Prasad is given to everyone. Worship of Moon God has special significance. On this day, the moon will rise at 8:55 pm. Mothers (Vrati) consume water only after offering Arghya.
