According to the Hindu calendar, the Amavasya Tithi of the month of Ashwin starts at 9:39 pm on October 1 and will end at 12:18 am on October 3. It is considered auspicious to offer tarpan and pinddaan to ancestors on Sarvapitri Amavasya.
