Ketki Flowers: Do not use
The use of Ketki flowers in Shiva Puja is completely prohibited according to trading rules. According to the legend, the flowers of Brahma and Ketki together lied to Lord Shiva that they saw the end of the Shivling. Enraged by this lie, Bholenath cursed the flower of Ketki that it would never be included in the puja. Therefore, do not forget the flowers of Ketki to Lord Shiva in Sawan.
Tulsi leaves: Taboo in Shiva Puja
Tulsi is considered extremely sacred in Hindu worship, but its use in Shiva Puja is forbidden under trading rules. According to a legend, when Lord Shiva killed the demon Jalandhar, Jalandhar’s wife Tulsi cursed Shiva that Tulsi would never be involved in his worship. Due to this, basil leaves are not offered on Shivling.
Kumkum, Roli and Sindoor: Honor of male element
Kumkum, Roli and vermilion are connected to feminine elements, and are used in the worship of other deities. But Shivling is considered a symbol of male element. According to trading rules, including these things in Shiva worship can destroy the energy of worship. Therefore, do not offer these things to Bholenath.
Coconut and Coconut Water: Avoid
Coconut or coconut water plating on Shivling is against trading rules. Shivling should be anointed only with water, milk or sugarcane juice. Their use is considered to be the right way to please Bholenath.
Broken rice: Importance of Akshat
In Shiva Puja, rice is used as Akshat, which symbolizes the form of indestructible and Bholenath. According to trading rules, only whole rice should be offered in worship. Lord Shiva can get angry by offering broken rice, as it dissolves the sanctity of Akshat.
