Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham became the first plastic -free temple in the country, now devotees will not be able to use inside the temple

Varanasi. Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham has been declared a fully plastic -free complex. On Tuesday, many garlands, flowers and prasad shopkeepers located outside the campus have started giving garlands, flowers, milk and water to bamboo baskets and steel lots to the visitors.

Bamboo baskets and steel lots were distributed by the authorities inside the temple premises on Monday to maintain environmental protection and cleanliness. Shopkeepers outside the premises have also started using plastic baskets, glass and lotus from their shops and using bamboo baskets and steel lots.

Pappu has a garland-flower shop in front of gate number four of Vishwanath temple. Pappu said that commendable work is being done by the temple trust for environmental protection. He said, “We all shopkeepers have decided that we will also be part of this virtuous work.”

30 to 35 shopkeepers from bamboo gate to Manikarnika gate have removed plastic materials. Now offerings are being made in bamboo baskets and paper boxes. Shopkeeper Manish said that Baba’s devotees are also being made aware of the plastic -free campaign.
