Do these special measures on Amavasya-
On Somvati Amavasya, anoint Shivalinga with milk, curd, honey, ghee and observe fast. It is believed that by doing this all the wishes are fulfilled. On this day, chant the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’ of Lord Shiva. Apart from this, also donate to the poor and needy. By doing this happiness and prosperity remains.
Offer water to the Peepal tree and also light a ghee lamp. On the day of Amavasya, one must offer offerings to the ancestors. It is believed that doing so brings peace to their souls. Worshiping Shiva and Parvati on this day increases happiness and prosperity.

Om Trimbakam Yajamahe Sugandhi Pushtivardhanam. Urvarukamiv Bandhanaan Mrityormukshiya Mamritat.
