Do not do these things during Pitru Paksha days-
No auspicious work of any kind should be done during the days of Pitru Paksha. During this time, avoid doing things like marriage, engagement, tonsure, housewarming. Otherwise, Pitru Dosh can occur. Shopping for new things should also be avoided during this time. Apart from this, do not consume tamasic things during the days of Pitru Paksha. Avoid consuming meat, alcohol, garlic, onion etc. during this time.
It is believed that consuming these things does not yield any result of the worship done during Pitru Paksha. Apart from this, avoid eating food with excessive spices during the days of Pitru Paksha. During this time, one should also not consume brinjal, white sesame, gourd, radish, black salt, cumin, lentils, gram, mustard greens etc. This has a bad effect on health. Do not serve the food of Shraddha in an iron vessel even by mistake. Rather, you can use copper, brass or any other metal vessel. During this time, hair and beard should also not be cut. This leads to wealth etc. Along with this, one should not insult anyone or else Pitra Dosh can occur.
