He fought with the desire to attain Goddess Lakshmi for his bravery. But since he was born from the ocean, Goddess Lakshmi accepted him as her brother. After being defeated there, he went to Mount Kailash with the desire to find Goddess Parvati.
He took the form of Shankar and reached Goddess Parvati. But, immediately recognizing his penance and power, he disappeared. Goddess Parvati became angry and narrated the whole story to Lord Vishnu. The sage immediately killed both of them in front of Vrinda. Seeing his power, Vrinda asked about her husband who was fighting with Mahadev on Mount Kailash. The sage revealed two monkeys from his web of illusion. One monkey had Jalandhar’s head in his hand and his torso in the other’s hand. Seeing this condition of her husband, Brinda fainted. After regaining consciousness, she prayed to Rishi Dev to bring her husband back to life.
Through his illusion, God again attached Jalandhar’s head to his body, but he himself also entered his body. Vrinda did not even realize this deception. Vrinda started treating God like a wife, due to which her chastity was destroyed. As soon as this happened, Vrinda’s husband was defeated in the Jalandhar war. When Vrinda came to know about all this leela, she got angry and cursed Lord Vishnu to become a merciless stone. Vishnu accepted the curse of his devotee and disappeared into the Shaligram rock. Due to the creator stone of the universe, a situation of imbalance had arisen in the universe. All the gods prayed to Lord Vishnu to free Vrinda from the curse.
