Dehradun. Chardham Yatra has been postponed for a day, considering the security of pilgrims as paramount in view of the continuous heavy rains and landslides in Uttarakhand. Garhwal Mandal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said on Sunday that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the current weather conditions.
He said that in view of the safety of the lives and property of the passengers, this precautionary measure has been taken so that the devotees trapped on the routes do not have any kind of inconvenience and they can be taken to safe places. He informed that the administration of the concerned districts has been kept on alert and relief and rescue teams have been activated.
Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the decision regarding further journey will be taken tomorrow after the weather situation and review of the routes. The devotees have been appealed not to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and do not depart to travel sites until the weather is normal.
