Uttarkashi. The ancient Shiva temple located here was buried in the Kalpa Kedar rubble due to the devastating floods in the Kheer Ganga river due to a cloudburst in Dharali village of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. It is said that due to a disaster last time, this temple was pressing under the ground for many years and only the upper part of it was seen. The architecture of this Shiva temple, built in the Katura style, is like the Kedarnath Dham.
After a excavation in 1945, this temple was revealed. On digging up to several feet under the ground, an ancient Shiva temple was found, whose structure was like the Kedarnath temple. The temple was located below the ground and the devotees had to go down to pray in the temple.
People say that Kheerganga water often comes on the Shivling installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and a way has also been made for it. The stone has been carved outside the temple. The size of the Shivling installed in the ancient Shiva temple is like the back of Nandi like Kedarnath.
