According to Vastushastra, it is considered auspicious to have a kitchen in the southeast corner between east and south. If the kitchen is built in the southeast corner but the location of fire and water inside is not right, then one may have to face big problems. In such a situation, one should not make arrangements for washing utensils next to the gas stove, that is, there should not be a sink. Otherwise you have to face health related problems.
According to Vastu, while constructing a kitchen, special care should be taken about the location of stones and water. White shiny stone should not be installed in the kitchen even by mistake. Instead you can use dark colored stone. The stone should not be too smooth so that the housewife cannot see her image in it. According to Vastu, the stove in the kitchen should always be kept in the east direction. And the water tap should be in the north-east direction i.e. the place between north and east, in the west direction. Fire and water should not be arranged nearby in the kitchen. This creates Vaastu defects.
