When is monthly Shivratri?
According to Pandit Ribhukant Goswami, on September 1, fasting and worship will be done on the Masik Shivratri. The Krishna Chaturdashi date of Bhadrapada month will start on September 1 at 03:40 am and will end on September 2 at 05:21 am. In such a situation, according to the Udaya date, Masik Shivratri will be celebrated on September 1. According to the Drik Panchang, Abhijit Muhurta will be from 11:55 AM to 12:46 PM and Godhuli Muhurta will be from 06:42 PM to 07:05 PM. Both these Muhurtas are considered auspicious for worship.
On monthly Shivratri, worship Shiva in this way
To remove all the troubles of your life, take a bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and worship Lord Shiva in a proper manner. Perform Abhishekam of the Lord with five things including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugarcane juice. Then you can offer white sandalwood, white flowers, black sesame seeds, white rice and Belpatra on the Shivling. After this, light a ghee lamp and do the Aarti of Lord Shiva. Now recite Shiv Chalisa. By doing this recitation, all the sorrows and pains in life can be removed.
Importance of fasting
According to Acharya Ashok Pandey, due to the virtue of this fast, married women get the blessing of unbroken marital bliss. On the other hand, unmarried girls get married soon. There is a religious belief that by worshipping Lord Shiva on the monthly Shivaratri, the person observing the fast gets all kinds of happiness on earth.
