Ev vehicles in up: Uttar Pradesh has made a big jump in the country regarding electric vehicles (EV). In terms of sales and registrations, the state has topped the national level by overtaking developed states like Delhi and Maharashtra. According to the current data, more than 4.14 lakh electric vehicles have been registered in UP so far, while 1.83 lakhs have been registered in Delhi and 1.79 lakh EV registrations in Maharashtra.
EV’s popularity has increased rapidly in other areas including tourist destinations in the state. As a result, Uttar Pradesh’s stake in EV sales across the country has reached about 85%. The state government has taken a big step to strengthen the EV infrastructure. Under the scheme, more than 300 new charging stations will be set up in 16 municipal bodies, of which most charging points will be installed in the religious city Ayodhya.
UP becomes the biggest beneficiary of fame scheme
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the biggest beneficiary of the Central Government’s Fame-I and Fame-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) regarding EV. At the same time, the state government is also working intensely on the new electric vehicle policy introduced in the year 2022, which aims to encourage EV adoption in the state and strengthen the charging network.
Efforts towards becoming a global center
The Government of Uttar Pradesh aims to make the state a global hub of electric vehicles and batteries. For this, the government is working towards attracting an investment of Rs 30,000 crore, so that an estimated 10 lakh jobs can be created. Currently there are a total of 33,000 EV charging stations across the country, of which 35% are fast charger. But in view of the increasing demand of EV in UP, the state government has started schemes not only to increase the number of fast charging stations, but also to strengthen the existing network.
