Giving information about its plan, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India said that it aims to sell 4-6 lakh CNG vehicles in this current financial year. The company had sold around 2.3 lakh CNG units in 2021-22. Currently, the company sells 9 out of its total 15 models with CNG and is planning to sell more CNG models in the coming days.

Big announcement regarding CNG vehicles
Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Sales and Marketing), Maruti, said, “Our plan depends on the availability of the component. But we are aiming to sell 4 lakh to 6 lakh units in the current financial year.
Srivastava said the share of CNG cars in the company’s total sales is set to increase in the coming years as the company plans to introduce more models with alternate fuel technology. He said that the sale of CNG vehicles is about 17 percent of our total sales. We have 9 CNG models and their contribution in those models is around 32-33 per cent. Shrivastava said that due to the low cost of operation and the continuous increase in the price of petrol, the interest of customers for CNG cars is increasing.

8 Maruti cars in top 10 vehicles
The government on its part is also working to rapidly expand the CNG fuel pump network in the country. Elaborating on the company’s dominance in the passenger vehicle segment, Srivastava said that out of the top 10 selling vehicles in the last financial year, 8 were from Maruti.
“The first 5 models in the top 10 list were from Maruti itself. The company has close to 66 per cent market share in the non-SUV segment and is now looking to introduce new models to strengthen its position in the fast growing SUV segment,” he added. Working on bringing
