Test purpose:
The main objective of this test is to evaluate the commercial viability of hydrogen-managed trucks in long distance goods transport. The initiative is funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Test characteristics:
Duration: The test phase will last for 24 months.
vehicle number: This will include 16 hydrogen-operated trucks with various configurations and payload capabilities.
Testing route: These trucks will be tested on major freight routes like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Surat, Vadodara, Jamshedpur and Kalingnagar.

The test will evaluate hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2-states) and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (H2-facev) techniques. The operation range of these trucks is estimated to be between 300 and 500 kilometers, suitable for long distance transport.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari appreciated the initiative that hydrogen is the future fuel, which has immense potential to change the transport sector of India by reducing emissions and increasing energy self -reliance.
