Uttar pradesh news: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to give priority to Made in UP in the purchase of e-Basis in the state. He said that buses to be purchased by the Transport Department should be manufactured in Uttar Pradesh as much as possible. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this step will speed up the industrial progress of the state and will also increase employment opportunities at the local level.
In the review meeting of Transport Department and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation on Friday, the Chief Minister clarified that the construction works of bus stations should be expedited, the convenience of passengers should be paramount and special attention should be paid to road safety. He emphasized on encouraging the operation of electric buses and making every effort to increase revenue.
World class terminal on PPP model
During the presentation at the meeting, it was informed that the roadways is developing 23 bus stations as world class terminals on PPP model. In the second phase, development of 54 additional bus stations is proposed, while construction of 50 bus stations is in progress. UPSRTC is also setting electric depots in 8 cities, where 4 to 8 universal chargers of 240 kW capacity will be installed. The Chief Minister directed to identify new routes for smooth traffic and promote private sector participation. On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, CM Yogi expressed happiness over the benefits of free travel facility to mothers and sisters and one of their co-passengers for three days by more than 78 lakh people.
Registration of more than 11 lakh vehicles
Discussing the achievements of the Transport Department, officials said that in the financial year 2024-25, 37.9 lakh new vehicles were registered in the state, while in the current financial year, more than 11 lakh vehicles have been registered till June. To encourage electric vehicles, tax and fee have been given a discount of more than Rs 942 crore. A policy like ‘No Helmet-No Fuel’ is applicable for road safety. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that to reduce accidents, modern technology should be used and coordination with the police.
