10.05 crore rural women families organized 90.90 lakh self -help groups: Center

New Delhi, March 18 (IANS). Giving information on Tuesday, the central government said that at least 10.05 crore rural women families have been organized in more than 90.90 lakh self-help groups (SHG) under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM).

From the financial year 2013-14, a bank credit amount of Rs 10.20 lakh crore was used by the Women’s SHG under DAY-NRLM.

Minister of State for Rural Development Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that by February 28, 2025, the SHG and their associations have been provided a total capitalization assistance of Rs 51,368.39 crore (revolving fund and community investment fund).

The Union Minister said that till February 28, this mission is being implemented in 7,144 blocks of 745 districts of 28 states and six union territories.

The Ministry of Rural Development is implementing DAY-NRLM across the country only except Delhi and Chandigarh, which aims to organize rural poor women families in self-help groups and provide them continuously and provide them until they get an increase in income over time. Along with this, the purpose of DAY-NRLM is to improve the quality of life of poor women and get them out of poverty.

According to the Union Minister, the scheme has taken several measures to strengthen marketing aid for products made by women self -help groups.

This includes ‘Saras Mela’ to be organized at the national and state level to promote the sale of products of self -help groups in urban markets.

The Ministry has set up a “Saras Collection” as a store front in GEM for marketing the products of self-help groups in collaboration with the Government e-Marketplace (GEM).

According to the Union Minister, Flipkart Samarth programs to producers of self -help groups including artisans, weavers and craftsmen have been signed between the Ministry and Flipkart, Amazon and Fashionary Technology Private Limited (Misho) to facilitate the national markets through Misho for Amazon Saheli initiative and marketing of products of self -help groups.

An e-commerce platform has also been launched by the Ministry for online marketing of products from self-help groups.

In addition, the seller is also active as a network partner on the e-acus ONDC network.
