After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, 110 flights were operated on Thursday to evacuate tourists stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, including eight additional services. More than 14,000 passengers traveled from these flights. The Civil Aviation Ministry also said that the fares of flights coming to Srinagar have decreased significantly in the last two days. Many people had expressed concern over the huge increase in air fares after the Pahalgam attack. The ministry clarified that airlines for connecting flights usually adopt a fare system that adds the cost of each part of the journey and in some cases the prices of economy and business class tickets become almost the same.
Ministry is keeping an eye on the prices of tickets
Significantly, at least 26 people were killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, most of which were tourists. Since then, a large number of tourists have been returning from Jammu and Kashmir. Airline companies are running extra flights to make tourists easier and the ministry is monitoring the prices of air tickets to ensure that tickets do not rise.
14,197 passengers traveled on Thursday
According to official data, 57 flights came from 6 am to 8 pm at Srinagar Airport on Thursday and 53 flights from which a total of 14,197 passengers traveled. The ministry said that the airlines have waived the fee for cancellation and re -determination of tickets and increased the flight capacity to Srinagar. The ministry said in a public information, “There has been a significant decline in air fares from Srinagar in the last two days. For example, a flight ticket from Srinagar to Delhi, which was more than Rs 20,000 on April 21, 2025, has come down to less than Rs 10,000 by 24 April, 2025, which has become more economical.”
