16.07 lakh employees joined ESIC in November

New Delhi, January 24 (IANS). According to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) payroll data released on Friday, 16.07 lakh new employees were added in November last year, of which more than 47 per cent are youth workers up to the age of 25 years, which shows that jobs in the country are on the rise. are growing rapidly and economic development is taking place.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that 20,212 new institutions have been brought under the ambit of the ESI scheme in the month of November 2024. This has ensured social security for more workers.

Analysis on an annual basis shows that net registrations have increased by 0.97 percent as of November 2023.

The statement further said that out of the total 16.07 lakh employees added during November, 7.57 lakh employees, which is about 47.11 per cent of the total enrolment, are in the age group up to 25 years.

Gender-based analysis of payroll data shows that the net registration of women in ESIC in November was 3.28 lakh. During this period, 44 transgender employees have also been registered.

The ESIC figures match the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) data released this week, which has seen a net addition of 14.63 lakh members in November 2024, showing an increase of 9.07 per cent compared to the corresponding October figure.

EPFO payroll data shows that the number of people in the 18-25 age group increased by 5.86 lakh in November, showing an increase of 7.96 per cent compared to October last month.

According to the official statement, the net member growth has increased by 4.88 per cent as compared to November 2023 on an annual basis, reflecting increased employment opportunities and increased awareness about employee benefits.
