देश में हर साल बन रहे हैं 33 करोड़ मोबाइल फोन

New Delhi, September 26 (IANS). India’s electronics sector is currently employing about 12 lakh people across the country, and 325 to 33 crore mobile phones are being manufactured every year, the government said on Thursday.

Electronics manufacturing in the country has grown rapidly in the last 10 years. It was Rs 1.9 lakh crore in the financial year 2014-15, which increased to Rs 9.52 lakh crore in 2023-24 (with an annual average growth rate of 17.4 percent). During this period, exports have also seen an increase of 22.7 percent.

On the 10th anniversary of ‘Make in India’ initiative, IT Ministry Secretary S. Krishnan said electronics has emerged as one of the most impactful sectors.

“Exports from India in the electronics manufacturing sector have also increased from about Rs 38,263 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 2.41 lakh crore at a CAGR of 22.7 per cent. This is much faster than the growth of other export sectors,” he said.

In the year 2014-15, only 26 percent of the mobile phones sold in the country were made in India and the rest were imported.

Today, 99.2 percent of mobile phones sold in India are made in the country itself.

Krishnan said, “We make 325 to 33 crore mobile phones every year in India and on an average about one billion mobile phones are in use. We promoted the domestic market. That is why you are seeing that there is a decline in the export of mobile phones. There has been a significant increase.”

In the financial year 2023-24, the export of mobile phones was about Rs 1.2 lakh crore, which has increased by 77 times compared to 2014-15.

Mobile phone exports were worth around Rs 1,566 crore in the financial year 2014-15.

On PLI scheme for mobile sector, the Secretary said that we have crossed our production target and the total production has reached Rs 6.61 lakh crore. The total value of investment is also Rs 9,100 crore, which is much higher than the target.

Krishnan said, “A total of 1,22,613 people have got employment, which is in line with the basic goal of the scheme. Therefore, this is one of the major achievements of Make in India and today the electronic sector employs about 12 lakh people across the country. Gives.”

Establishing semiconductor manufacturing bases in the country has been another major part of ‘Make in India’.

The foundation for semiconductor manufacturing is being laid with the launch of Bharat Semiconductor Mission and five major projects approved. These projects include two projects of Micron, Tata Electronics, one project of CG Power and one project of Keynes.
