New Delhi, 27 February (IANS). Uttar Pradesh is moving rapidly towards its goal of becoming a 1 trillion dollar economy. In this episode, the Mahakumbh Mela-2025, concluded on Mahashivaratri in Prayagraj, has contributed more than Rs 3 lakh crore to the state economy.
On the last day of Mahakumbh, which started on 13 January, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared on social media that more than 66.21 crore devotees participated in the holy bath at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj during this festival.
According to industry leaders, this grand celebration is estimated to have a turnover of more than Rs 3 lakh crore (about $ 360 billion) through goods and services, which adds the name of Mahakumbh to the list of the country’s largest economic events.
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) general secretary and BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal said that before the commencement of Mahakumbh, the initial estimates had estimated the arrival of 40 crore people and a business transaction of about Rs 2 lakh crore.
However, due to the best response from the country and abroad, more than 66 crore people participated in the world’s largest spiritual conference, which led to a turnover of more than Rs 3 lakh crore.
Air fares also rose in the March quarter during the seasonally weak travel period. This bounce was focused on the flights of Prayagraj for Mahakumbh.
Large -scale economic activities were observed in many commercial areas, including hospitality and housing, food and beverage sector, transport and logistics, religious dress, worship and handicrafts, cloth and garment and other consumer goods.
Not only Prayagraj but also in cities and towns within a radius of 100-150 km, there was a great jump in trade, which strengthened local economies.
The Uttar Pradesh government spent more than Rs 7,500 crore to increase the infrastructure of Prayagraj.
According to the state government, Rs 7,500 crore was spent on creating 14 new flyovers, six underpasses, more than 200 wide roads, new corridors, extended railway stations and a modern airport terminal.
In addition, especially Rs 1,500 crore was fixed for the arrangement of Kumbh Mela.
