New Delhi, 5 April (IANS). The Ministry of Rural Development has approved projects worth Rs 620.63 crore for the construction of rural roads in North Eastern Region and Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha with a view to promoting economic development in remote areas. This information was given in an official statement released on Saturday.
Under PMGSY-3, Rs 474.71 crore will be invested for construction of rural roads in Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
280.97 km long roads have been approved with an estimated investment of Rs 225.15 crore to Manipur.
The ministry said that earlier under the PMGSY-3 in the state, 502.24 km long has already been approved for 54.24 km long with an estimated investment of Rs 404.72 crore.
An estimated investment of Rs 67.69 crore has been approved for the construction of seven bridges in Mizoram.
Earlier, 17 roads were approved under PMGSY-3 with an estimated investment of Rs 562.70 crore in the state with an estimated investment of Rs 562.70 crore.
Himachal Pradesh will get Rs 140.90 crore under this scheme for construction of 21 bridges 970.772 meters long.
Earlier, an estimated investment of Rs 3,345.82 crore was approved for the state under PMGSY-3 for 299 roads with a total of 3,123.117 km length and 43 long bridges.
Uttarakhand will get an investment of Rs 40.77 crore for the construction of nine bridges 246 meters long. Under the scheme, an estimated investment of Rs 1,865.34 crore has already been approved to the state for 212 roads and nine bridges.
The Ministry of Rural Development has also approved projects for Tripura and Odisha under the connectivity component of the Prime Minister’s Tribal Tribal Justice Emperor (PM-Janman).
With an estimated investment of Rs 76.47 crore for Odisha, 25 roads with a total of 84.352 km length have been approved, while 63.271 km long and two bridges have been approved for Tripura with an estimated investment of Rs 69.65 crore.
The objective of this initiative is to improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education and markets.
The ministry said that this will increase connectivity in rural areas, to bridge the gap between remote villages and urban centers and will promote economic growth, trade and commerce in the region.
