The Government of India has allowed the inclusion of base-capable face authentication in the mobile apps of private organizations. This will make identity verification easier, safe and simple for users. This step will help to facilitate digital transactions, ensure better access to services and make life easier. This will benefit many areas such as hospitality, healthcare, credit rating bureau, e-commerce, educational institutions and aggregator service providers.
How will the base authentication be used?
After this update, private companies will now be able to use Aadhaar face authentication for customers onboarding, e-KYC verification, examination registration and employee appearance. This biometric authentication will provide users fast, safe and trouble -free service, which will reduce dependence on OTP or documents. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), this decision has been taken under the Aadhaar certification Amendment Rules, 2025 for good governance. Its purpose is to increase transparency and efficiency in good governance and service distribution.
Aadhaar Good Governance Portal launched
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has also launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal (Swik.meity.gov.in), where guidelines related to the application and onboarding process for certification services have been provided. This portal was given the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology S.K. Launched by Krishnan. UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar, NIC Director General Indrapal Singh Sethi, UIDAI DDG Manish Bhardwaj and other senior officials were present.
